To my way of thinking, dedicated chess computers are pointless. General purpose computers running a chess program will pound the stuffings out of them. So why bother with them at all? If you just want something tiny, get one of those palm computer thingy's and Tom K's chess program. Then, besides chess, you can do other useful stuff with it as well. So why spend a big pile of money on something that does nothing but play chess, when you can get a general purpose machine that plays better than those machines would anyway (barring Hsu's chip)?
