Jay P.S. I'm not sure what a troll is, but it must be bad. > AMEN !! I agree to all your points . The action taken has obviously lead to a whole board full of discussion about all Moderation issues one could imagine while it has only been 3 weeks since there have been threats of it being better than ever ( and I agree here). Well , as for today the Message Board is completely unreadable due to the action taken . The DB threads have always been the most boring ones to me but they are completely on-topic and when thinking about who posted abusive things in them it isn't "Gerber" who comes to mind . Silently closing his account until identity proven would have still been much more useful IMO . It is hard for me to understand about this on-topic / off-topic discussion anyway ; there are tons of threads about hardware , this computer being faster , that having better L1-Cache , how can this be on-topic ? There are great newsgroups for this . In fact I even doubt a little about those CM6000-personality-ones ( but this is probably more a question of personal interest ) . Whereas the question for a good C++-book is of much higher interest to me although probably not more on-topic than the hardware stuff. It's probably all a question of common sense , dust will soon have settled down again ( don't know how this translates :-) ). And in fact I think it would be great if the moderators insisted again that every "Moderation" post has to have "moderation" in the subject line to give people a chance to avoid them ( and I am sure that the people who _don't_ want to read them are the vast majority ) ! regards pete
