It is very simple to add the appropriate write and read statements to preserve the pawnhash, so I gave it a try. This seemed to help (a little bit). I figure there can't be 'that' many pawn positions in the analysis of a typical chess game - so let's save 32 Mb's worth.... I'm not sure it is worth the disk space. Anyone have any figures for legal (and likely) pawn layouts, my back of the envelope calculations vary enormously. Similarly the hashtable wipe can be skipped, but this eventually causes some glitches for reasons I've since forgotten.
