I am also one of the few that did not know him. But the stories of those people who knew and loved him give us an unforgetable picture of him. I will keep him in mind as the oracle of computer chess that at any time could suddenly appear right in front of you at any place where computer chess happens giving you unasked all the answers on computer chess (future) you never would dare to ask for... ...and as an old man living in a house where thousands of computers playing chess games against each other under his strict eyes... ...and it appears that there is no computer chess game played in the world not played before in this house of computer chess somewhere in the netherlands. I just ask me... will his computers in this house still all playing on ... perhaps still under Jans strict eyes?
