Yes, I will certainly let you know if I find any improvements.

So far, I find the results extremely promising.  My second 100-game match
is almost finished, and it seems that the version with your extension will
win by a similar margin this time, too.  It does not happen often that
I get such a big improvement with just a few new lines of code.  But of
course, it remains to be seen whether the extension is effective in matches
against other engines, too.  Results of self-play matches are often
misleading.
