Certainly he acted like a gentleman, but he should have been forced to behave like a fiercesome competitor. I don't like the preccdence this creates, are we now all expected to be gentlemen and give away the win when an engine is stronger but buggy? Bugs are part of the game, IMO. -S. I agree. well said. what about other sports. 1. if Michael Jordons team was leading, but Michael sprained an ankle should we give the opposite team the win? 2. if Tiger Woods is leading the tournament, gets a bug and gets sick, should we just give him the win? 3. if Dale Earnhardt Jr. is leading the race, gets a bug and is running on 7, should we all hold back and give him the win? 4. if Kasparov is leading a match, gets a bug and falls out, should we give him the match? 5. etc... bugs have always been part of the game. do we say stefan screwed up not having code to prevent this? do we say stefan screwed up by having incorrect code to prevent this? do we have a new rule now to cater to strong commercial programs? does this mean that an opponent can make a judgement call on his own to allow another program to take the win? If so then the tournament will have to have many rules stating when an opponent may "give" a draw or win. if this was a three move repetition draw, then I think it should have been left as a draw and not a, "hey man my program just said draw by repetition, I have less lines of code then you do and you bought me steak dinner last night--so I give you the win". kburcham
