It depends on how far advanced the passed pawn is. For passed pawns on the 7th rank, I increase the bonus by 200 or 100 (depending on the side to move) if the pawn can advance safely. At the 6th rank, the numbers are 80 and 60. If the pawn is further back, I don't care about the side to move, and use a bonus of 20. My evaluation unit is "binary centipawns", i.e. pawn=128. These values are entirely untuned and are almost certainly not optimal. Like most of my evaluation parameters, I have never found the time to experiment with different values. Tord
