Hi, my opinion: don´t hash the king. Put other results of pawn eval in your pawn-hash. For example a queen-/kingside pawnshield information, a bitarray with passed-pawns, a bitarray with open/half-open lines, knowledge about backward pawns, ... Then combine these information with the piece (king) positions. You need these pawn information for interaction with many other pieces, not only the king. Examples: passed pawns should be protected by rooks from behind. rooks should be placed on open lines or half open lines with backward pawns. a blocked passed pawn is less valuable. a centered piece protected by pawns wich could not be attacked by enemy-pawns is strong. ...
