No I also do not think that fritz7 is a pure tactical engine. All commercial engines or old commercial engines have evaluation and they evaluate factors like pawn structure,king attack,mobility. I think that Fritz7 is better than almost all of the free engines and there are hundreds of free engines. Fritz7 is probably not more than 50 elo weaker than Fritz8 Bilbao so I guess that there are no free engines that can beat it except fruit.toga1 that is based on fruit and maybe spike. Uri
