I have never experienced this kind of trickery with no kind of UCI engines.

This opinion seems understandable, because Vincent wants to make money with his
GUI in the first place.

This will complicate things more than necessary. Why is it that everybody always
wants to create a new standard? Look what happenend to Chess Tiger 2004: It
can't be run under Fritz or under Shredder, so nobody is running it and you hear
practically nothing about it.

Zappa w/o UCI support will mean no engine tourneys, probably no SSDF testing, no
discussions in the message boards.

I don't think that at all. :-)

Maybe, but so are others. If you want to compete and sell your engine, you
should make it interesting for as much people as possible otherwise the market
will ignore it soon.
