Subject: New Intel notebook dual core processor

According to Anandtech, Intel will be releasing a new dual core processor, code
named Yonah in early 2006. Yonah is the successor to the notebook Pentium M
processor, which is very efficient for chess playing programs. If you go to
http://www.geocities.com/sedatchess/hardware.html, I believe the Pentium M is
the only Intel processor to break the top 10 of that list.

Looking at the details of the Anandtech article at
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2627&p=3 it looks like the
L2 cache latency has increased significantly :

"And changed they have indeed. If you’ll remember from our earlier
desktop Pentium M investigations, Dothan’s very quick 10 cycle L2 cache allowed
it to be competitive with AMD’s Athlon 64, despite lacking an on-die memory
controller. With the move to Yonah however, the L2 cache latency has gone up a
whopping 40%. While we’re still dealing with a lower access latency than the
Pentium 4, this increase will hurt Yonah."

So, my question to hardware experts is - what will the impact be on chess
programs of a significant increase in L2 cache latency ??
