I have often played aginst computer at queen odds, and I regularly win (of course I have also lost a couple of times because of tactical blunders). I have also won at rook odds, altough less often. Keep in mind that I am a patzer (I would estimate my elo at around 1400). The programs don't understand that you are playing at odds, and always chose the "best" move. They should try to complicate the position, while they are happy to exchange down to a lost endgame. For this reason I almost stopped playing odds games.
