Basically not, but for instance having to play variants from your alternative book which the engine's book may usually avoid, can result in games of different character from what is typical for the games, in which the engine's book is used. (Different engine moves in the same position can occur of course, due to many parameters like time, computer speed, hash content, or due to a learning feature which some engines have that may affect some positions which occured in previous games, already.)
