I think I got it now, thanks for help Franz! What happened was I had put the .rar file already in the egdb folder made by (unzipping) Gambit Fruit. Unrarring this file it created another egdb folder within the first! I suspected that might not work but placing the second egdb folder outside and renaming Gambit Fruit's own egdb folder somehow also did not work. (Maybe I forgot the dll) Then second try I copied all the bitbase .dat files out of that second egdb folder and placed the copies one level higher in the first level egdb folder. That seems to work! the egdbdll.dll is stil in that same egdb folder because that's where it was unrarred it but that seems no problem. I read now from you this is even necessary! It is possible to check by simply "opening" GFruit-4b.exe (leftclick on the exe file) and see it loading or not loading the bitbases. If one of the bitbases can't be loaded the engine reports that, else it simply says Gambit Fruit based on Fruit 2.1 and Toga by Ryan Benitez, Thomas Gaksch and Fabien Letouzey bitbase loading started bitbase loading ended bitbase loaded Sample output from Gambit Fruit with bitbases in Shredder Classic (that I used for the "debugging", in Shredder's GUI ucidebug mode, from which the debugging-output coveniently does not get copied out of the analysis window, only the PVs you'd usually want, rest is to be found in dumpfile, very neat programming by Stefan!): [D]5k2/8/8/8/8/8/3K4/3R4 b - - 5k2/8/8/8/8/8/3K4/3R4 b - - Engine: Gambit Fruit 1.0 Beta 4b (200 MB) gemaakt door Ryan Benitez, Thomas Gaksch and Fabien 1/03 0:00 -43.50 1...Ke7 (4) 2/03 0:00 -43.70 1...Ke7 2.Kc3 (35) 3/05 0:00 -43.40 1...Ke7 2.Kc3 Ke6 (125) 4/07 0:00 -43.60 1...Ke7 2.Kc3 Ke6 3.Kc4 (547) 5/09 0:00 -43.90 1...Ke7 2.Ke3 Ke6 3.Ke4 Ke7 (2.123) 5/09 0:00 -43.60 1...Ke8 2.Kc3 Ke7 3.Kc4 Ke6 (3.547) 6/09 0:00 -43.70 1...Ke8 2.Tb1 Kd7 3.Tb6 Ke7 4.Kc3 (9.316) 7/12 0:00 -43.90 1...Ke8 2.Kd3 Ke7 3.Ke3 Ke6 4.Ke4 Ke7 (17.896) 8/13 0:00 -44.10 1...Ke8 2.Kd3 Ke7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Td5 Ke7 5.Ke5 (37.512) 9/14 0:00 -44.40 1...Ke8 2.Kd3 Ke7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Td5 Ke7 5.Ke5 Ke8 (73.384) 10/15 0:00 -44.40 1...Ke8 2.Kd3 Ke7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Td2 Kf6 5.Td6+ Ke7 6.Ke5 Ke8 (138.852) 11/17 0:00 -44.40 1...Ke8 2.Kd3 Ke7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Td5 Kf7 5.Te5 Kf6 6.Kd5 Kg6 (221.364) 12/17 0:00 -44.60 1...Ke8 2.Kd3 Ke7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Td5 Kf7 5.Te5 Kf6 6.Kd5 Kg6 7.Ke4 (344.441) 13/19 0:00 -44.90 1...Ke8 2.Kd3 Ke7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Td5 Kf7 5.Te5 Kf6 6.Kd5 Kg6 7.Ke6 Kh6 (520.593) 14/21 0:00 -45.10 1...Ke8 2.Kd3 Ke7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Kf4 Kf6 5.Te1 Kg6 6.Ke5 Kg5 7.Tg1+ Kh4 8.Kf5 Kh3 (948.321) 15/23 0:00 -45.10 1...Ke8 2.Kd3 Ke7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Kf4 Kf6 5.Te1 Kg6 6.Ke5 Kg5 7.Tg1+ Kh4 8.Kf5 Kh3 9.Kf4 (1.262.331) 16/25 0:01 -45.60-- 1...Ke8 2.Ke3 Kf7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Td5 Kf6 5.Td6+ Kg5 6.Te6 Kg4 7.Tg6+ Kh4 8.Kf4 Kh3 9.Tg1 Kh2 10.Tg3 (2.482.135) 1470 17/25 0:01 -45.60 1...Ke8 2.Ke3 Kf7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Td5 Kf6 5.Td6+ Kg5 6.Te6 Kg4 7.Tg6+ Kh5 8.Tg8 Kh4 9.Kf5 Kh3 10.Kf4 Kh2 (3.197.145) 1636 18/27 0:02 -45.60 1...Ke8 2.Ke3 Kf7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Td5 Kf6 5.Td6+ Kg5 6.Te6 Kg4 7.Tg6+ Kh5 8.Tg8 Kh4 9.Kf5 Kh3 10.Kf4 Kh2 11.Kf3 (4.376.076) 1690 19/27 0:03 -46.10-- 1...Ke8 2.Ke3 Kf7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Td5 Kf6 5.Td6+ Kg5 6.Te6 Kg4 7.Tg6+ Kh5 8.Tg8 Kh4 9.Kf5 Kh3 10.Kf4 Kh2 11.Kf3 Kh1 (6.634.102) 1810 20/28 0:04 -M12-- 1...Ke8 2.Ke3 Kf7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Kf4 Kf6 5.Te1 Kg6 6.Te6+ Kg7 7.Kf5 Kf7 8.Te5 Kg7 9.Te7+ Kf8 10.Kf6 Kg8 11.Te8+ Kh7 12.Td8 Kh6 13.Th8+ (9.089.013) 1865 21/28 0:05 -M12 1...Ke8 2.Ke3 Kf7 3.Ke4 Ke6 4.Kf4 Kf6 5.Te1 Kg6 6.Te6+ Kg7 7.Kf5 Kf7 8.Te5 Kg7 9.Te7+ Kf8 10.Kf6 Kg8 11.Te8+ Kh7 12.Td8 Kh6 13.Th8+ (11.878.092) 1924 22/28 0:06 -M11 1...Ke8 2.Ke3 Kf7 3.Kf4 Ke6 4.Td2 Kf6 5.Te2 Kg6 6.Te6+ Kg7 7.Kg5 Kf7 8.Te5 Kg7 9.Tf5 Kh7 10.Kf6 Kh6 11.Kf7 Kh7 12.Th5+ (13.158.915) 1986 Regards, Eelco
