So everything you can do, is, to think about the appropriate amount of hash you will give the engine. You also can do some mathematics on your own in order to figure out the best settings for your machine. But whatever your favourite hash-size will be, keep in mind that the engine will search the whole hashtable each move, before it calculates! That means, that the engine will spend much time searching your hashtable, hoping to find the actual position, before it starts to calculate, which can reduce the performance of your system and engine play enormously if you set hash-size too high. In blitz-games you simply throw that time away, because the engine has not that much time for hashing and calculating. So try to find the best solutions regarding both arguments.
