Not sure if this was mentioned on CCC before, but: Eiko Bleicher (some time ago) using Marc Bourzutschky's GTBGEN sw to confirm that there are no pawnless 6-man full-point mzugs. It was close though. In 1995, Noam Elkies had put up position [D] 8/8/8/8/2n5/1n6/R1N5/3K1k2 pointing out that it was a wtm loss in 1 and, with a wB on b1, a btm loss. But without the extra wB, Black can reach a draw (" indicating 'unique move'): 1.... Nc5" 2.Nd4 ne3+" 3.Kd2 Kf2" 4.Kc3+ Kg3" 5.RA3 Kf4" ... This suggests an interesting data-mining exercise: Is there a 6-man pawnless half-point mzug where more than 5 unique moves are required to stop it becoming a full-point mzug? g
