I probably wasn't clear about what I meant, sorry, here's an example, the board from MSCP found at: ftp://caissa.onenet.net/pub/chess/Unix/ but compiled for Dos This is MSCP 1.0 (Marcel's Simple Chess Program) Type 'help' for a list of commands 8 r n b q k b n r 7 p p p p p p p p 6 - - - - - - - - 5 - - - - - - - - 4 - - - - - - - - 3 - - - - - - - - 2 P P P P P P P P 1 R N B Q K B N R a b c d e f g h 1. White to move. KQkq mscp> See, what I'm talking about is that very simple array type of board, just that here's my program, you don't get anything fanci approach, take it or leave type of thing. John Stanback's SCP is much like that, found at the same unix ftp, it might be my favorite bare bones Chess program. I like Pierre allot too. That compiles up without a hitch as a Dos program, not as strong as the one that you compiled for WB of coarse, but I don't lump it in with these bare bones programs because it can use WB & Xboard. I expect Pierre to become much stronger. Pete
