Yes, I understand exactly what you mean. It's one thing to live and work here
for three weeks but another for 11 years... I think I could live here for longer
either. But almost 2 hours(!) each way for me wouldn't be very sexy too,
actually...

Well, you also get pizza, hamburgers or chinese food there. Or any other style
you wish, in particular in the larger cities as Hamburg, München, Berlin...
Actually Düsseldorf belongs to the cities with the best restaurants in Germany.
As far as I remember only Bonn had more top restaurants of all price categories,
Düsseldorf came in second... :) And, not to forget (and to defend this post as
being not totally off-topic), in the west of Germany and Netherlands you find
probably the highest density of schachcomputer collectors world wide... *braggin
about the home area* ;))
