>In contrast to the opinion of some so called Chess960 friends (including >pseudonymes) in fact Shredder "FEN" for Chess960 is not at all recognized >outside the Shredder ghetto world. True Chess960 friends have existed and played >that game for years, long before that compatibility attack. I don't get it, I really don't. You don't in fact think that SMK is trying to "attack" Chess960, do you? In the surely unlikely case that you do, what would be his motive in your opinion? I think in the context of your campaign in favor of your format (which of course you are entitled to carry on as long as it pleases you) it is also unwise to label everyone who happens to not side with you an enemy or some similar such thing of FRC, because doing so will be the safest way possible to get everyone side with SMK, and this will in my opinion eventually include at least part of the people who might otherwise like your proposal on the basis of technical or philosophical merits. Note please that while I like the compromises in SMK's proposal better than those in yours, the very same thing would in my opinion apply to him were he to start suggesting on a daily basis that everyone not using Shredder-FEN in their game notations be a traitor to the common cause of Fischer-Random Chess. Regards, Janosch
