Subject: PDA's vs. Portable Dedicated Chess Computers

Greetings,

Would anyone be interested in a comparison of strength and features of the
current set of portable chess computers versus the current set of chess
offerings on Personal Digital Assistants?

I know of the following PDA chess games:

* PocketChess for the Palm Pilot
* PocketChess for WinCE 2.0 devices
* Purple Software Chess for WinCE devices and Psion organizers
* Midnight Chess for WinCE devices
* Deep Green for Apple Newton MessagePads
* Psion Chess for the Psion organizers

I would like to compare them in strength and features against the current crop
of portable chess computers (for example, from ICD):

* Novag Jasper
* Novag Sapphire I/II
* Novag Amber
* Saitek Cosmos
* Saitek Bullet
* Saitek Aurora
* Saitek Avalon
* Excalibur Viper
* Excalibur Squire
* GK-2100
* any others people may own

To start things off, I will compare the two things I own:

+ Deep Green on an MP2000 (160MHz)
+ Novag Sapphire II (32 MHz)

Deep Green has the most elegant grayscale 2D board, which has propelled it to
the top Newton application of the year on many software lists. The engine
however is primitive, and the extra oomf of the StrongArm processor still
doesn't bring it up to the level of the highly tuned Kittinger engine in the
SapphireII.
