Shredder 5 is being produced now, so if you are interested you will be able to get it within a couple of days. I am very sorry for the delay we had, but I think the work I did recently was worth the few extra days. There are many new features in Shredder, you can use multiple engines at the same time, including winboard engines, and pair the against each other. Another new feature is the “triple brain”, you can load any two engines into Shredder and let them both analyse a given position. The “triple brain” will use their search information to find out which program has a better understanding of the position and will choose the move of that engine. This will also work during games, so you are able to play against any combination of two chess programs. Several engines are included in the package which you can use in the Shredder interface like Shredder, SOS, Crafty and Nimzo 2000. You’ll also get seven versions of Shredder, including “Gambit Shredder” and “Shredder Bean Counter”, so you can find out by yourself which paradigm is best :-) If you are not happy with the engines you are able to create your own. Shredder and SOS are native engines, Crafty and Nimzo use the winboard interface. If you have any specific questions concerning Shredder I will try to answer them here. Oh yes, I forgot, the engine certainly got better :-) I am not sure if and how I should have marked this posting as an ad. If so I ask the moderators to please add the appropriate title.
